Background<\/h2>\n

Agriculture plays a major role in climate change through the emissions of GHGs, especially through ruminant digestion, soil processes and indirectly through the use of diesel, fertilisers and pesticides. Agriculture has the highest exposition to climate change as it depends directly on climatic factors, therefore climate protection should be conducted on farm level by reducing GHGs and energy consumption.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

Implementation<\/h2>\n

The project was implemented in four European countries (Germany, France, Italy and Spain). The core of the project was a farm-level assessment of GHG emissions and energy consumption with the help of a tool (ACCT). Meausres were then discussed with the farmers which could reduce their energy consumption and GHG emissions and implemented throughout the project. GHG emissions and energy consumption could be reduced between 10 – 40 % on all analysed farms.<\/p>\n
